We have had requests for the best personalized necklaces and so we polled the community and the results are in! We had so many responses and there were four brands that stood out the most, with a few honorable mentions. Jewelry is deeply personal and specific to your taste, style and the overall aesthetic you're looking for, in addition to quality, price and longevity. Read below for what brands popped to the top, and why they are so beloved by our followers.
Something to keep in mind when shopping for your next piece is understanding the difference between 14k solid gold, gold vermeil, gold filled and gold plated. Moral of the story - you get what you pay for! Listed in highest quality order:
Solid Gold - 14k yellow, rose or white gold means it is solid gold. This is the best quality, and the most expensive option. You can wear these every single day to sleep in, sweat in, and live in and they won’t tarnish or turn your skin green. These pieces can be future heirlooms as they will maintain their quality (with care, of course!)
Gold Vermeil - Contains a much thicker layer of gold than gold-plated jewelry. Vermeil is much less likely to fade, tarnish, or wear down as quickly as gold plated because the base metal is sterling silver. This is a more affordable option than solid gold, however, after some time and wear, the plating will wear off.
Gold Filled - Is similar to plated in that the base metal is more affordable like a brass or copper option that is bonded with a thicker layer of gold. The gold layer is thicker than gold plated, but in time (unless you polish regularly) will eventually tarnish and wear off. This is also a budget friendly option that can be worn daily, but keep in mind you will want to maintain these pieces if you want them to last.
Gold Plated - Is typically thinner, cheaper and in time will tarnish. Because the base is typically a more affordable metal like copper, the gold plate will wear off quickly, and can turn your skin a green tint when wearing it. These are not ideal for everyday wear, but rather some fun fashion pieces meant to be worn a few times as this is a budget friendly option.

The brand that literally came in by the hundreds from our community was Maya Brenner. Known for having tasteful, beautiful and high quality 14k white, yellow and rose gold options; these pieces are truly every day. You pay for the quality you get, so this is definitely on the higher end but for solid gold, you cannot go wrong.
This brand offers collections like letters, birthstones, word plates, zodiacs, countries, states and more.
People love that you can add on additional letters as you go, they have a program where you send in your Maya Brenner necklace and within 4-5 weeks they add the new and send it back to you!

The second favorite brand was Made by Mary. People love that this is a more affordable option, there are good custom pieces available and the quality is not sacrificed.
This brand offers personalized necklaces in a variety of different shape options as well as chokers, chains, pendants and lockets.
They also have a good amount of different collections to shop, like birthstones, for littles, mama’s, birth flowers, pearls and more. I love that they have some trendier pieces too.
This is a more budget friendly option when it comes to jewelry as they offer gold vermeil, and gold filled. It is worth noting they do have a few solid gold options as well.
The necklace options come in a variety of chain lengths for the perfect fit.

Tiny Tags
Coming in third was Tiny Tags! What our community loved about this family owned brand was that the quality was great for the price, and you can customize your pieces still.
What I like about Tiny Tags is that they offer gold vermeil and solid gold in a lot of their designs
When shopping with them you can select the material you are shopping for (solid gold, vermeil, or sterling silver) to make selection easier and narrow into your price point.
They offer a lot of different categories to shop, like discs, pendants, dog tags, nameplates, bar styles, chains, chokers, lockets, as well as birthstones. Along with a handful of collections and collaborations.

The last brand that was called out was Oak and Luna! This brand is known for being more trendy, but still offers the classics that you are likely looking for. This is a brand that is all over Instagram and for good reason.
They offer a lot of design variety in their names and initial pieces, that you can get in necklaces, bracelets and rings.
