Best Coffee Maker
When selecting the right coffee maker it seems there are a million different options out there, each claiming to be the ‘best cup of coffee’ and the ‘only machine you’ll need’.
After years of basic single serve coffee, we bought a Breville Espresso Machine last year and I can truly say that it is incredible. While it is an investment, I find myself buying Starbucks so much less and with me and my husband both working from home it is a daily treat I look forward to. I polled the community on your favorite single, drip, espresso and espresso + coffee machine options out there, and the results did not disappoint!
Best Drip Coffee Maker: Ninja was the clear winner in terms of favorite brand. There were a few styles that were called out as favorites, with the most recommended style being the Ninja CM401 Specialty 10-Cup Coffee Maker ($169). It has 4 different brew styles: classic, rich, over ice or speciality (can be lattes, macchiatos, cappuccinos or other coffee house faves). One of the most notable features was the 6 different brew sizes - from cup all the way to full carafe. Lastly it was loved for the built-in frother! Takes you from at home to professional in no time!
There was one honorable mention that I never heard before this poll, and came in as a close second place- the Technivorn Moccamaster ($359) brand. This is more expensive than the Ninja style, however, everyone was raving about it in the comments! Most said that once you go to Moccamaster you don’t go back because it is that good. They also come in a wide variety of colors if you care about the aesthetics.
Best Single Serve Coffee Maker: Nespresso brand won this category by a landslide. Over 85% of you who suggested this noted that the Nespresso VertuoPlus Coffee and Espresso Machine ($219) style was versatile, lasted forever and produced delicious coffee/speciality drinks! Some features people liked are that you can have both hot and iced coffee, it has 4 different cup sizes, and this model includes a frother. There are several different versions of this VertuoPlus to choose from depending on how many ounces you are looking for.
Best Espresso Machine: The results came down to almost a 50/50 split with the Nespresso (listed above) and the Breville Barista Express Espresso Machine ($749) - I own the Breville and I love it. You never realize how good your at home coffee can be until you get something like this! There is a slight learning curve because this is a precision machine, but once we figured it out it was smooth sailing (we relied on youtube). It grinds the beans for you, the flavors are perfectly balanced and it includes a frother that produces the perfect foam milk and if you are really fancy you can create latte art (not me, I wish lol). I can’t say enough good things about this espresso machine - it changed the work from home game for both me and my husband!
Best Espresso + Coffee Machine: The results for the best combo machine are split - this time it was between the Nespresso (listed above) and the Jura E6 Automatic Coffee Center ($1,650). The Jura is a splurge - more than the Breville, however, all of the comments for the Jura was that it was so worth it because it is a life changing coffee machine. It is on par with your local coffee shops! This is a smart coffee machine, with its simple operation and display, the machine use is self explanatory for quick coffee, espresso, cappuccino and milk foam options all displayed on the front. What people like is that this creates two coffees or espressos at one time, and delivers barista level drinks. It also has an integrated rinsing/cleaning program to keep it hygienic and clean at all times!
