Favorite Women’s Swimwear

When it comes to finding the right swimsuit, the search can be endless! Swimsuits are so personal as we all have different bodies, styles, and coverage preferences.

I asked our community what their favorite swimsuits and brands are and the results are in! I love community polls because I always hear about new products or brands and this is one where I got a ton of submissions, some of which I had never heard of. There were a few brands that were submitted for every single category (hello Summersalt - I see you girl), and some that really popped to the top when it came to a specific need. I polled for the best one piece, two piece, best suits for big chests, full coverage, suits for long torsos, maternity and plus size swim! Read the blog below for the stand out brands and styles.

Best One Piece Brands

This poll got the most submissions and the majority of them were for Summersalt! It is no wonder this is a community favorite - the fits, versatility, price and quality of the suits are unmatched! They have really classic, but also trend forward styles, that you will want to keep in your closet forever. Two features everyone loves is that most of their swim comes in longs and they rate their butt coverage styles from A-C (A being the most cheeky to C being more full coverage), so you know what you are getting when you order it! Some styles that were specifically called out in the comments are:

The Sidestroke - Full support without cups or padding, making it great for any boob size with C butt coverage, aka the fullest coverage.

The Ruffle Backflip - Built-in soft cups for extra coverage with C butt coverage (the fullest coverage).

The Bow-Shoulder Ruched Sidestroke - Sewn-in soft cups for added coverage with C butt coverage (the fullest coverage).

The Perfect Wrap One-Piece - Built-in soft cups for extra coverage with B butt coverage (a little cheeky).

The runner up in this category was Aerie! I love Aerie suits and have been a fan of their one pieces for years and I know our community loves them too. If you are looking for more trendy styles and want something that is inexpensive but still good quality, Aerie has some awesome options! They also have longs and that was called out a few times in the submissions. It is worth noting that they added cups back into their suits - hallelujah because no one was trying to show off their nipples like that!

The next brand that popped to the top was Andie! I also own a suit from them and I can attest to the quality and fit of these styles. A few comments from the community called out how their styles are double lined, have good coverage and how timeless some of the fits are. They have their one piece selection broken out by: long torso, core one pieces, supportive bust and full coverage, making it really easy to shop the styles that fit your needs. The number one style that was called out was The Malibu One Piece for its versatility, nursing friendly, and adjustable coverage options.

Last but certainly not least, is J.Crew! I have been wearing J.Crew suits my entire life and I will say their quality and assortment game is strong. They have the biggest assortment to choose from and so many prints and color combinations. J.Crew was submitted in multiple categories but some of the comments called out how this brand is specifically great to ‘mom around’ in. They have a good range of coverage that they break out by minimal, mid and full coverage, so you can find the best fit for your body.

Best Two Piece Brands

The number one submission was Left on Friday - I was pleasantly surprised to see so many people love it! What people love most about the brand is that the quality and fabrication of the suits. They are super soft and because they are double lined they have good support and compression, without being confining. While this brand is on the more expensive side, everyone said it is very worth it! They have so many different fit options and offer different bum coverage. A few styles that were mentioned:

Hi Tide Bottom paired with Double Scoop Top

The second submission was, of course, Aerie! They always bring in tons of cute options for two pieces and I love that they have a good mix and match assortment. Their website makes it super easy to mix different styles by showing you what is available in what fit, making the shop-ability a breeze. Their bottom styles range from the cheekiest to full coverage and you can shop based on which style is more comfortable for you! As mentioned above, they brought the removable cups back to their suits this year too!

The last submission was Athleta! This is a brand where you know you will get quality pieces and classic styles. If you are someone who is looking for more athletic style or even just more simple suits, Athleta is a great option. A lot of their tops are offered up to DD making this a great brand for someone with a larger chest who needs more support! One of the tops that was called out was their Paradise Top, it comes in sizes 32-40.

Suits for Big Chests

The number one submission for best suits for larger chests was Lands’ End. This is a classic brand with a wide variety of styles for all different body types, larger chests, full coverage, or even some tummy control! They offer one pieces, two pieces, rash guards, swim dresses and cover ups to choose from. While they are on the more expensive side, they are known for running sales frequently so you can always get them at a discount. Most of their suits are offered in petite, regular, plus, and long as well as offered up to size D. They have slender, sculpting, and ‘tugless’ styles. A few suits that were called out:

The Slender Suit

The Swim Dress

Another brand that was highly submitted for larger chest was Wild Isles! This is a new brand for me and I love their mission on making affordable, cute and quality swimwear for those who need more support. They are known for wire free styles starting in size D-H, and custom fits designed to support and contain bigger busts without looking bulky or like bras. Wild Isles sources their fabric in Italy and is made from 100% regenerated nylon that gives their fabric a soft and smooth four-way stretch compression fit.

Suits for Long Torsos

If you are a long torso girl like me, finding the right suit that fits your body can be challenging! The number one brand that was submitted for long torsos was Aerie! I have at least 5 long one pieces from Aerie and always appreciate the consistency in their fits.

Summersalt was the second favorite for long torsos and I recently bought a long style myself and love it!

Andie was also mentioned as a favorite when it comes to long torso suits, which I also own. I love the Almafi Ribbed style for a timeless and simple option.

Full Coverage Suits

This category was widely participated in as well, and I think it shows how many of us still want to look cute while ‘moming around’. The number one brand was Summersalt, again! Their website makes it really easy to shop for the exact coverage you are looking for, like longs, boob support, and butt coverage. This was also submitted in the best suits for bigger butts as well.

Another great option for full coverage suits is J.Crew! As mentioned above, they have their suits broken into different coverage categories making it really easy to find the best suit for you.

Lands’ End was the runner up to these two brands and it is no surprise knowing how many love their suits for everyday! The Swim Dress was mentioned a few times for this as well as a great option for when you’re chasing your kids around and bending over a lot.

Maternity Suits

Being pregnant in the summer means finding a swimsuit that makes you look good and feel good is critical, but can sometimes be a challenge! Most people don’t want to spend a ton of money on something they will only wear for one season, so price is king in this category! The number one brand submitted for good maternity suits was Old Navy. Their versatility of styles and fits paired with good price points is what makes them stand out from the rest.

Another great place to shop Maternity suits is Target! They have a wide variety online and most notably their Isabel Maternity line is what they are most known for but Cupshe is another one that is loved because of the price and fun styles they have.

Amazon was also mentioned and specifically their Summer Mae collection! They have a ton of cute styles in both one and two pieces and prices that can’t be beat.

Plus Size Swim

If you are looking for plus size swim there were 3 brands that were submitted from the community! Lands’ End was most beloved and no surprise because they have inclusive swimwear sizes and a ton of great options for everybody.

Wild Isles was also a favorite for plus size swim and that was mentioned earlier when polled for best suites for larger chests!

The last brand that was submitted was Swismivo! I have never heard of this one but this is also available on Amazon and is offered up to a 5X in most styles.
