Work Bags: Totes + Backpacks
When selecting the right work bag, you want it to look good, but be highly functional. Whether you are wearing it into the office, traveling or using it as your daily bag, we wanted to hear from the community what bag is your favorite when it comes to totes and backpacks!
As always there are a few clear winners in each category but we will also share the honorable mentions!
Best Tote
We got a lot of submissions in this category but there were two brands that stood out. Dagne Dover was the most loved and the runner up was Longchamp! I personally own a diaper backpack from Dagne Dover and I had a Longchamp bag for years that I used for school and work. People love the Dagne Dover Large Daily Tote style and while it is almost $300, they made sure to mention the quality and functionality is top notch. It is made from vegan leather, can fit up to 16” laptops with its padded laptop sleeve, has multiple pockets for optimal functionality and storage, a luggage sleeve for travel and a neoprene water bottle holder. It also comes in a Medium Size!
Dagne Dover also has the Signature Classic Tote ($255) which was also mentioned! While this is slightly smaller than the Large Daily tote, it can still fit a 13” laptop with its padded compartment, slimmer shape and fold down handles to make it perfect for tighter situations! This has a magnetic closure to keep your tech safe, with different pockets for your phone, wallet and other items to keep them in place.
The second most popular tote submitted was Longchamp, many referring to this as the ‘Mary Poppins’ bag that does it all! I used this bag for years in college and when I used to travel for work. The Original Le Pliage Large Tote Bag is the OG bag- at $155, this comes in multiple different color ways and sizes and can be personalized! It has a full zip closure and snap top with two inside pockets. While this lacks different storage compartments, the quality canvas, long lasting minimalist design and ease of folding/storing makes up for that. Many people said they bought organizers for this and it took the bag to a new level! The brand also has a lifetime warranty (minus the hardware) so if the bag has any wear and tear they will replace it for free.
Best Backpack
The second category we polled the community on was backpacks. Tumi Backpacks were the most loved, and although they are a higher price point, these backpacks are high quality and offer high functionality. The Celina Style ($475) was called out for being one of the favorites because it is stylish and feels mature. Some of the main features are padded laptop compartments for up to 15/16” laptops, multiple front zip exterior pockets and multiple interior pockets, water resistant water bottle pocket, padded straps, quick access phone pocket, luggage companion strap, and a key leash - it clearly does it all! This brand is also available on Amazon in select styles.
The runner up in this category was the Dagne Dover Dakota Neoprene backpack! It comes in three sizes, a variety of colors and mesh styles! This backpack is water resistant, can fit up to 16” laptops and has a zipper laptop pocket on the outside and a slip tablet sleeve on the inside. Not only is this bag chic, it is made of premium neoprene, a great high-tech fabric that is water resistant and hand washable. Versatility is what the brand is known for!
